But as I read I didn't know whether to cry or laugh or scream because OMG, those policemen got MEDALS? And the refrain in the article is all how "But they didn't make any mistakes - we've never not honored a policeman shot in the line of duty"

And I'm all - THE WHOLE DAMN THING WAS ONE BIG MISTAKE.

And then to learn that the family abandoned the house likely due to broken glass and other damage and emotional trauma and can't keep it anymore. WTF?

The police account of what happened is different even from the original article I'd read. They never claimed last year to have shielded the children with their bodies. But I guess if you're getting a medal, it makes sense to polish up your 'story'.

I'm so disgusted.Avalon's Willowhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07539301720154191607noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4506995090336963455.post-88040614741302245452008-12-07T16:13:00.000-05:002008-12-07T16:13:00.000-05:00I saw you on WFA; the story you mention that you c...I saw you on WFA; the story you mention that you couldn't find the link to sounds like what happened in my city last year:

http://www.startribune.com/local/26083024.html

The article is a few pages long (and the links aren't very obvious, but they're there).Sarahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11040371885726535674noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4506995090336963455.post-24613650107040171572008-12-07T11:02:00.000-05:002008-12-07T11:02:00.000-05:00You are correct about everything. Look around at what's been happening; Teachers burning crosses onto a student's skin, people suing to have Creationism taught in schools (but do note, not the origin of life stories of any non Christian religions). Teachers spying on students they believe are gay and then telling their parents. School security guards smacking teenagers (minors) to the ground for 'sass'.

That's what HERE has become.Avalon's Willowhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07539301720154191607noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4506995090336963455.post-2400689929025111442008-12-06T22:51:00.000-05:002008-12-06T22:51:00.000-05:00Thank you for posting about this... I...I'll link to this later on in my links round-up. It's so very, very disturbing and highlights that we can't afford to assume anything, especially when the authorities want to improve their targets and anything smacking (however inaccurately) of inappropriate images of minors will automatically be written off by many people who read the mainstream press as a bad person getting what's coming to them.Angeline B.
